About COMSDA What is COMSDA?
COMSDA is a fee based subscription to the most comprehensive supplier
diversity assessment tool available. The outcome is an assessment tool
that evaluates the current performance of a corporation’s supplier
diversity program. The COMSDA tool assesses how well the program is
positioned to reach the ultimate goal of developing an increasingly
competitive, strategically aligned base of diverse suppliers. The
overall purpose is to improve the results of supplier diversity
programs by enhancing how corporations measure their success. COMSDA
is a new standard in supplier diversity.
The assessment engine for COMSDA is derived from years of research in
minority business development and supplier diversity. That research
included in-depth interviews with corporate executives, minority

professionals. The research also resulted in the writing of the

Race and Business.
COMSDA is designed to be used by major corporations to evaluate their

suppliers. The assessment tool is divided into four categories:
1. Intensity & Leadership – Questions in this category focus on
elements that display a corporation’s commitment to supplier
diversity, their leadership among their peer corporations and their
general involvement in and contribution to the advancement of supplier
diversity.
2. Strategic Positioning – The questions in this category are
carefully designed to determine how well a supplier diversity program
is positioned to develop market competitive minority suppliers (MBEs).
3. Quantitative Results – This category assesses how well a corporate
supplier diversity program performs in ways that can be calculated and
reported. The COMSDA tool tracks year to year progress in key
quantitative categories and can report trends over time.
4. Infrastructure – This category reviews and evaluates how a
corporation’s various internal supplier diversity systems, structures,
and measures are positioned to reach the goals of a diverse supplier
base.
